Challenges and solutions
Creating Realistic Candle Lighting
Making the candles appear self-illuminated while still reacting to external light sources.
Solution:
A radial gradient texture with subtle drip lines to drive both subsurface scattering and emissive properties.
Exposed material parameters to allow control over:
-
Candle colour
-
Subsurface intensity
-
Emissive falloff height, mimicking wall thickness near the wick
Randomisation & Optimisation
Preventing repetitive appearance of candles.
Solution:
-
A candle Blueprint that alters scale and rotation for each instance, adding variety without manual adjustments.
